The 2017-2018 District Governor Nominating Committee has selected Donald Brewer as its nominee designate, announced Past District Governor and committee chair Sarah Oliver. 

Donald was introduced to Rotary while in India in 1984 where he was a speaker on the American legal and jurisprudence system. He has been a Rotarian for 22 years, and a charter member, since June, 1992, of the Algonquin Lake in the Hills club, now the Algonquin Club. 
 
 
This year, Donald serves his club as the Rotary Foundation and End Polio Now Chair, and International Service Chair.  He has served his club as President three times, as secretary for multiple years, and has held nearly every other position in his club.
 
At the District level Donald has served as the Chair of the District Membership Committee and as an Assistant Governor for over six years, currently working with the Crystal Lake Dawnbreakers, McHenry and Lake in the Hills Rotary Clubs in the Northwest Sector.                                   
 
Professionally, Donald has been an Attorney for over 40 years, practicing in the Illinois and Federal Courts.  He currently has a solo law practice with offices in Crystal Lake, Illinois. In addition to his legal credentials, Donald is an Electrical Engineer and a licensed Patent and Trademark attorney.
 
Throughout his legal career Donald found time to be involved in his community, serving as Village President of the Village of Algonquin, and several terms as a county board member of McHenry County.  Donald has also been very active in his church and a number of other non-profit organizations.
                
Don is a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor of The Rotary Foundation.   Fifteen members of Donald’s family are Paul Harris Fellows.
 
A resident of Algonquin, Donald and his former wife have 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
