Does your club purchase new winter coats as part of a "holiday gift shopping for families in need" project? Operation Warm, a Rotarian founded non-profit charitable organization, would like to help.

Operation Warm provides more than 100,000 new winter coats each year to children living in need. Rotary Clubs can acquire new coats at wholesale-like pricing: $15 per coat plus shipping (less than $2 per coat) for children's coats, $17 plus shipping for adult sized coats. Coats ship in boxes of six same-size/gender coats, and a minimum of five boxes must be ordered. These coats typically retail for around $40, come in a variety of styles and colors, and are very well made, according to Operation Warm.

Several clubs have expressed a desire to acquire fewer than 30 coats for their holiday shopping project. Rich Lalley, president of the Winnetka-Northfield club and staff member with Operation Warm, has offered to coordinate a group order if enough clubs are interested.

If your club would like to explore this as a way to stretch your budget for holiday gifts for needy families, contact Rich at rlalley@operationwarm.org. Orders would need to be placed by the end of October for coats to be available by late November. A central receiving location would also need to be identified, so if you can help with this, please contact Rich.

For more information about Operation Warm, how to order coats to be shipped directly to a beneficiary organization (e.g. school, shelter, youth services agency), or to express interest in participating in a group order, contact Rich Lalley at rlalley@operationwarm.org or 224-305-3684.
