When two Rotarians meet, something wonderful can happen.

Rotarians Pedro and Carlos happen to live in the same town and they speak the same language (languages?)  During a cordial lunch, Pedro casually mentioned he had some calculators donated by John, another Rotarian.  Carlos told him he knew some children that could use them.  And so, another terrific project began.

Pedro told Carlos he could only have one thousand calculators from his own allocation but he could get some more from John.  Carlos knew John because he had been John’s Zone Advisor.  It took just one phone call to set up a date to pick up ‘some’ calculators.

Carlos and Larry drove in Larry’s pickup truck to Iowa City and returned with 20,000 solar powered calculators that had been destined to be scrapped.  Rick offered to store them in his warehouse.

A few more phone calls later to Jorge resulted in a group effort led by ‘Pato’ and ‘Pata’ in Guatemala to receive and distribute the calculators to local schools.

One day, Carlos stood in front of his club and asked for donations to pay for the freight, and the calculators were on their way thanks to Rick’s international shipping knowledge.  See the results in the photos shown.
